Making Soap

A swain soapmaker and I were discussing soap molds (something all soapers discuss rather a lot), so I thought I'd put up a quick photo essay. I love this negligible mold. I won it several years ago as a prize at a soapmaker's convention. Unfortunately, the company that made it, TLC Soaps, appears to have gone out of company. I've searched all over the Internet, and while I can find listings for it and links to the home page, none of the links work. (I've tried two unlike browsers, just in case there was something hinky with Firefox.) I'm pretty bummed out about that, because this is a very cool mold form, and I hate to see that another soap company has gone belly-up. :-(

Anyway, here's part one of my how-to using a soap mold with Plexiglas inserts.

This mold holds around 3.5 pounds of soap mixture. This is a cold process batch (meaning that once the oils are melted and various with the lye/water/milk solution, no additional heat is applied). This batch is a luxurious one, containing cocoa butter, shea butter, a momentous percentage of olive oil, wheat germ oil, powdered green clay, and goat milk. I formulated it to be emollient and moisturizing, and scented it with patchouli essential oil.

Where can I find multiple soap molds to buy online?

I have a cocker that makes soap but he doesn't mold it, he just does it for fun and breaks it into pieces. I wanted to find some believable molds for him as well as some scents to use. I keep finding soap molds online but it's always just one. I was hoping to find some multiple molds that you can do all at once instead of buying a nosegay separately. He makes a lot of it and it would take a lot of time to do just a few molds at a time.
Is there some kind that come together in one tray? I'm not categorically sure how it works. I just want something that is fast and easy for him.

Yes, and they are called tray molds. I have several I purchased at Avocation Lobby in the store. Also, you can try these sites (I have purchased from them frequently).

www.goplanetearth.com

www.soapgoods.com

www.cakesnthings.com (they have a soap making subdivision)

I have several of the same things -- soap molds, Kodak slide carousels -- that I need to sell on Ebay, but --?

outwardly Ebay thinks I should be a STORE if I want to sell more than one of the same thing. Is there a way around this? I tried to put lots of 3, 5, 8 and 15 and put in the breed that they are for sale individually and the buyer can choose how many they want...Not sure if that's the right way to go.

There are a link of ways to do this. First you can list the buy it now price for 1 lot. In your item description be very clear on what they are bidding on. If you have 10 lots put 10 totality and in your description tell them what comes with a lot. The other way you can do it sell individually. I would not recommend this as if you are selling something for 1.00 ebay automatically charges no less that .35-.50 cents to index... then you have a end of auction fee... if you do them in lots and you sell them lets say for $5-$10 then you are only hit the one fee for each lot and not for each piece. So you still have the .35-.50 to laundry list and your end of auction fee probably .30 . This is opposoed to selling them piece by piece and only making a few cents or sometimes you can even dissipate money!!!!
