First Denver Magazine cover...

I recently projectile some men's wedding fashion (tuxes, boutonnières, accessories and such) for Denver Magazine, one of the two major city magazines in Denver, Co. I've been working for them a lot lately but had yet to change the cover...Until now. One of the images from the take is the May 2009 cover of the magazine. One of the hardest things for me since going freelance after leaving the newspaper has been the scarcity of immediate gratification that was so prevalant in the newspaper business. You'd take a nice image one day and the next it would be plastered across the front page of the weekly for everyone to see. Nowadays I may shoot something and never see it in print because it's for a publication halfway around the world or for some company's use internally. At any rate it's still a bit of a sprint to see your work in print, on the cover or not.
A little bit about the shoot also - We worked on two locations at the Oxford Hotel in downtown Denver and St. John's Cathedral in Capitol Hill. It's been a hardly while since I've shot fashion and after talking with the art director I learned that I'd met the male model (Thierry Inghilterra of Highest Talent Agency in Denver, Co. ) while photographing a store that he and his wife own together. He was great to work with and the funny part is I had no clue he modeled until that afternoon. Also present that day was Denver Magazine's Wendy Ledwitz and art director Tom Visocchi, a true pro and always delighted to help out any way he can (thanks for all the help and work along the way); fashion stylist Brittney Smith and hair and makeup artist Jeffery Fernandez. It was the first conditions working with both Brittney and Jeffrey and I have to say...
