I want to know! what did/do you love or hate about your teachers?
I'm working on column my teaching philosophy and I want to know what you loved (or hated, as the case may be) about your teachers. I'm growing to be teaching high school English, so I'd love to hear the stories about those teachers especially. All thoughts are entitled though!
Ok this is what I love and detestation about my teachers.
Love:
*Teachers that are funny and exciting.
*Ones that do interesting things to help us learn
*Teachers that can be turned on to to students and can relate class to current popular movies, songs, tv shows, etc. (One lecturer played the Cupid Shuffle to teach her students how to move the decimal in percents.
*Teachers that talk to their students. I like talking to one of my teachers in fastidious. It creates a great bond.
*Teachers that are firm but fair.
*Teachers that tell jocose stories about what's going on in their own life.
*Teachers that know how to maintain order in the classroom to keep a safe learning environment for their other students i.e. teachers that have rules like raising your hands, no speaking out, compress like that.
*Teachers that let you sit with people that you know.
*Teachers that respect the different learning styles of students. For lesson, I prefer to work alone instead of in groups, but some prefer to work in groups rather than alone. You have to know the contrastive learning styles and vary your activities between each.
Hate:
*Teachers that aren't organized.
*Teachers that at most teach and sit down (No conversation)
*Teachers that don't teach. Ones that simply hand you papers and dictate that you to do it.
*Teachers that are mean just to be mean.
*Teachers that don't do anything (I know a teacher like this)
*Teachers that don't like kids.

How do you love yourself without love from elsewhere?
I'm looking for a astute answer, nothing simplistic like "Love yourself for who you are" or "Look deep secret you to find yourself" etc I appreciate the sentiment but that suggests it's like turning a tap on and off and this question is a difficult one to replication. I don't think there is an answer really is there? But how do I walk on to the right track in this path to loving the self everything considered I haven't been able to accept myself all my life?
