Why do some hand towels change color when they become wet?
May 11, 2007 by Ryan D | Posted in Other - Home & Garden
I recently bought a new set of immature hand towels and after one use of washing my hands they bagan to change to a yellow-orange color. I conscious I did not have any soap left on my hands that could possibly bleach them; just water.
They could have been improperly dyed. Failing is more complex than just putting color on, you have to prepare the fabric properly, then use agents to set the dye. For many dyes there are quicken and time elements as well.
If you are unhappy with the look of your new towels after a few uses, you can re-color them yourself, I do this all the time with various garments and other fabrics - although the colors are not always on the cards.
I use mostly Procion MX dyes from Jaquard which you can get at an art store, but RIT works too. If I'm starting with a darker color I will bleach it down, then dye it back up following the dye manufacturers directions.

My dishwashing soap changed colors on me!!!!!?
Apr 13, 2008 by jungle_jape | Posted in Cleaning & Laundry
I have a new fiasco of Ultra Concentrated Dawn Plus OXI. Halfway through my bottles use, it turned from the normal tenebrous blue color to sickly greenish amber color. What could have changed the color and is it safe to use??
Could be:-
* Irresolute blue dye could be dropping out of solution. Natural surfactant color is yellow -orange. Therefore yellow overwhelming remaining blue to giving a greenish product.
* Or bacterial contamination.
Suggest contacting P&G Cock crow Manufacturer and advising them of the problem.
