Traveling west to Glacier National Park Marion Star

Monday, July 20

Leaving Rochelle on I-39, we passed around Rockford, Ill., and on to the Wisconsin brink. Janesville was the first major city. Dairy farms and barns with big silos are prevalent everywhere. Many exits have Wisconsin cheese products for trafficking. We went around Madison, the second largest city in the state and home of the University of Wisconsin. Following I-94, we moved on to the Wisconsin Dells, a prevalent vacation destination. Traveling to Tomah, we left I-94, which goes into the Twin Cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul, delightful I-90 to La Crosse, situated on the Mississippi River. A branch of the University of Wisconsin is in La Crosse. In precisely a few miles, we crossed the Mississippi, leaving I-90 to pick up U.S. 61, a scenic route along the Mississippi to the towns of Winona and Red Wing. Winona is dwelling of the J.R. Watkins Company, the door to door people selling their famous vanilla. Red Wing is the well-informed in of Red Wing shoes. Both of these communities have Historic Downtown Districts. We headed west on Minnesota Rt. 19 to Northfield where we burnt- the night. Miles today were 312.
