spray gun?
May 05, 2008 by Tim G | Posted in Maintenance & Repairs
i bought a new spray gun off someone, but it came without instructions. there are 2 knobs auspicious next ot each other on the rear of the gun and there is one near the air inlet what are these for?
The stud on the air inlet controls how much air pressure you decide to use. The upper two knobs control how much paint you spray out and the figure that you want sprayed out. I would advise you to fill the gun 1/4 full with laquer thinner and play with the knobs to get the gun set how you would like it. Pro tip - Basecoat and Cut away Coat need to be sprayed at high pressure with a wider spray pattern. Primer is foremost applied with lower pressure, more volume, and a slightly narrower spray pattern.

What is the best spray gun to use to paint canvas?
Feb 17, 2008 by curlymonkey9 | Posted in Painting
I have been paining on canvas for a while and i at best started to experiment with spray paint. Someone suggested that i should invest in a spray gun. I have absolutely no idea what kind to use and how to use one. Do I mix carouse and then put it in there? I was just wondering if anyone could help me out and tell me what I should look into.
Thank you and is there any particular one that you recommend and what are the differences between them?
Also I'm planning on working on unconfined canvases.
Depending on how big an range
you need to cover and what kind
of work you're doing check out
Binks spray guns or
Iwata airbrushes.
Legitimate google the names
you get a ton of hits.
Spayguns and airbrushes have a paint reservoir
that is holds your supply of decorate make merry.
You will more than likely want to mix
your own colors.
Airbrushes do detail work
sprayguns large areas
A amicable compromise is a touch up gun.
See link below.
I didn't know how to use one either when I bought
my first spray gun.
the Basics
1. spray gun and hose
2. compressor or compressor w/ tank
3. regulator and copiously trap
Mix your paint and thin it so that
it can run through the spray gun
Now the bad news even using a relatively
benign acrylic paint you can beget a huge
cloud of paint in your room or studio.
Especially in a confined space. don't
even concoct of using lacquers or enamels.
For large scale stuff you may need a ventilation
system of some subgenus or you have to work
outdoors. either way consider a quality respirator
with good replaceable filters.
My favorite list on airbrushing is the
Monster Garage publication-
How To Custom Paint Damn Near Anything
It has clever info on spray guns and airbrushes.
Plus tons of other good stuff.

Side from all the foul up and stuff
you can get some cools effects.
It's fun.
